I would say that popular website like YouTube, Reddit, Twitter(x) are still useful today. Even the small forums are still useful in their own rights. My predicition however for future developers is that there will be such a surge on the individual website,self hosting, anything. The chances of them standing out rather being in the group would likely help the junior develop get an application much better then there counterparts. There is nothing wrong with those who don't have their own website or have one with a company like squarespace, but it is getting increasingly hard for the individual person to get picked out of a big bag of contenders. It is better to be your own bag that entices the recruiter to try something new and hire the noob. It'll challenge them towards creativity, and creativity/imagination helps solve problems much more than the the developer that follows the rules.
